KATHMANDU, April 20: CPN-UML Chairman K P Sharma Oli has said that the decision by various parties to merge into a single party as a 'positive' development.

Talking to media persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from Thailand on Thursday, Oli said the decision by six various agitating Madhes-based parties to form a single party named Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) was a positive development. Oli was in Thailand for health checkup.

Speaking on the occasion, Oli also asked the agitating parties to participate in the upcoming local election. He argued that any political parties that believe in the democratic system should not shy away from participating in the polls.

Oli also said that election is an opportunity for all the parties to test how the public sees their policies and performance. Oli, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the role played by the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) in the lead up to the elections.
