KATHMANDU, Jan 8: The meeting between CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has held yesterday evening.
During the meeting held at Oli's residence in Balkot, the two leaders held serious talks on taking ahead the party unification bids to a conclusion and formation of a new government as well as the constitution of the National Assembly.
Oli, Dahal decide to resume party unification talks
After the one-to-one meeting, Maoist Center Chairman Dahal said the two leaders have agreed to hold internal discussions in their parties today and to conduct the party unification coordination meeting on Tuesday.
Chairman Dahal said that the party unification coordination committee would form a team to sort out the political and organizational tasks to finalize the party unification process soon as agreed by the two chairmen.
Oli and Dahal held the meeting at a time when conflicting statements were coming out regarding the leadership of the unified party and government leadership in the new government.
It is said that yesterday's meeting was conducted as an effort to forge an understanding prior to Oli's flight to Bangkok. Chairman Oli is scheduled to leave here for Thailand for his regular health checkup on Wednesday.(RSS)
