KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has formed a committee to look into the concerns regarding the MBBS entrance exams of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) after ordering cancellation of the exams results. The exams were held about a month ago.

After cancelling the results published in two phases on November 30 and December 2, the ministry has formed a three-member monitoring and coordination committee, according to the MoH. The committee headed by former secretary Dipendra Bikram Thapa includes legal expert Bijaya Mishra and exam expert Sita Ram Budhathoki.

PAHS enrolls 60 MBBS students each academic year.

Health Minister Gagan Thapa has recommended PAHS Chancellor and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take action against the officials responsible for publishing the controversial results.

MoH has directed the PAHS to involve all the 1,769 entrance examinees in another entrance exam and publish the results fairly on merit basis. The committee headed by Thapa will study the exam process and submit report to the ministry, said Dr Shrestha.
