KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Nepal’s national cricket team captain Paras Khadka and ace all rounder Sompal Kami are included in the players’ draft list for the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) scheduled for Monday in Dubai.
Both players reached Nepal on Thursday after playing in Asia Cup Qualifiers where Nepal failed to qualify for the Asia Cup.
A familiar name from Nepal making rounds of world participating in T20 leagues Sandeep Lamichhane is however missing in the list, according to sources involved in APL player recruitment.
Paras-led Chauraha risks crashing out
“That’s it in the list I have. No Lamichhane so far,” the source claimed. However, according to the source, the list might be updated before the draft-day. Teenager Lamichhane represented Delhi Daredevils in Indian Premier League, Montreal Tigers in Global T20 League Canada and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Caribbean Premier League earlier this year.
Over 350 players including associate stars like Rohan Mustafa, Chirag Suri, Kyle Coetzer are included for the draft process.
Players from Hong Kong, Oman and Canada are also included in the draft. Players will be seeded in six different categories- icon, diamond, gold, silver, ICC Associate and emerging.
Kabul, Nangarhar, Paktia, Balkh and Kandahar are five inaugural participating franchises in APL as confirmed by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).
ACB Chairman Atif Mashal was happy about the conclusion of franchise ownership process “I would like to thank all five franchises. They have made the right decision and will find this extremely beneficial in the years to come”.
The inaugural season of APL is scheduled to take place from 5th –October 21, 2018 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
