KATHMANDU, June 26: The meeting today of the Legislature-Parliament has been postponed until 1:00 pm Monday following obstruction by the main opposition Nepali Congress.
The postponement for tomorrow came about after the meeting was obstructed for the third time today. Speaker Onsari Gharti had been postponed the meeting for an hour for the first time and for thirty minutes for the second time earlier in the day.
Soon after the third meeting began, NC member of parliament Arjun Prasad Joshi accused the government of not desiring to talk openly about the party's demand to give the quake survivors a lump sum of Rs. 200,000.
House postponed till Wednesday
He said that the party would not allow the parliament to function until the demand was met.
NC members of parliament then rose from their respective seats. Though Speaker Gharti urged the NC MPs to not obstruct the house as the Prime Minister would be informing about the reconstruction efforts, the main opposition continued to obstruct.
As a result, Speaker Gharti postponed the meeting for 1:00 pm tomorrow. RSS
