KATHMANDU, Sept 17: A group of youths have staged a demonstration in Maitighar in Kathmandu demanding the reappointment of Kul Man Ghising as the managing director (MD) of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
The agitating youths carried placards that read “Reappoint Kulman Ghising”, “We have lights only because of you” and “We want Kulman, the light man'' and chanted strong slogans against the KP Oli-led government “for not giving Ghising another term to serve as the chief executive of the state-owned power utility”. The protestors also criticized the government for not “honoring people’s popular demands”.

Police had used force to disperse the big crowd of the agitating youths.
Ghising, whose four-year term as NEA’s managing director ended on September 14, has been credited for ending the chronic problem of power outage, commonly known as ‘load-shedding’, once and for all in Nepal. He also transformed the once-bankrupt NEA into a profit-making public utility within his four years in office as the chief executive of NEA.
