PKD urges World Bank to invest in Nepal's priority areas

KATHMANDU, July 12: CPN Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal urged the World Bank's representatives to consider investment in Nepal's highly prioritized sectors, stating that Nepal has already paved its path towards economic prosperity.

KATHMANDU, July 12: CPN Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal urged the World Bank's representatives to consider investment in Nepal's highly prioritized sectors, stating that Nepal has already paved its path towards economic prosperity. 


Dahal said so during a meeting with the World Bank's Country Manager Faris Hadad-Zervos at the former's residence in Lalitpur today. 


According to his Secretariat, the former Prime Minister mentioned that it was a golden time for the country to make economic stride following the political stability achieved in 70 years.

Stating that he was expecting further supports, recommendations and cooperation in Nepal's economic agenda, Dahal explained," We have government at all three levels. We will determine our priorities and our priorities remain in the development works that the people could relate to." 


According to him, mega hydro power projects and tourism were among the top priorities that Nepal has set. 


On the occasion, the World Bank's Country Director expressed his happiness over the political stability achieved in Nepal. Stating that the World Bank had experienced economic development of many countries, Zervos was confident that those experiences would be useful to Nepal. 


Zervos reaffirmed, "We will focus on infrastructure development and we will work under the government. Your progress is our achievement." 


He asserted that Nepal's development figured in the World Bank's top priority and expressed commitment to provide cooperation in the sector of infrastructure development based on agriculture.
