KATHMANDU, May 13: Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal on Saturday has appealed to all the Nepalis for their active participation in the first phase of the local level polls due to be held tomorrow.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, PM Dahal said it is through election that people exercise their universal right and power in a democratic system.
Dahal has described the local level elections as a historical opportunity to implement the current hard-won constitution.

“Nepal is on the eve of local level elections as part of the process of implementing the constitution achieved as a result of decades –long struggle and sacrifice”, reads the press release.
Expressing disagreement with the usual interpretation of the May 14 local level election as the continuation of the local polls held about two decades ago, Dahal has claimed that the local level poll due to be held on May 14 is the first of its kind in the the political history of Nepal.
“It is, for the most part, through participation in the election that people exercise their universal right in a democracy. Put it differently, people use their decisive power via election . In this sense , the May 14 local level election can be taken as the first opportunity to use the universal right achieved by Nepali people”, reads the press release.
PM Dahal has called on all the Nepalis to enjoy their universal voting rights by actively partaking in the May 14 local level elections.
