PM to shuffle cabinet, to appoint RPP-chief Thapa as DPM

KATHMANDU, March 9: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Thapa is preparing to appoint chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Kamal Thapa as Deputy Prime Minister.

KATHMANDU, March 9: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Thapa is preparing to appoint chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Kamal Thapa as Deputy Prime Minister.


Thapa will be given the responsibility of Ministry of Local Development, told PM Secretary Prakash Dahal to Republic online. Hit Raj Pandey of CPN-Maoist Centre, who was looking after the Ministry, has been called back by the party.

Likewise, PM Dahal is preparing  to appoint Dil Nath Giri, from RPP, as the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Jeevan Bahadur Shahi of Nepali Congress was handling the Ministry.Shahi, now, will be given the portfolio of Ministry of Water Supply. 


Earlier, Prem Bahadur Singh was taking responsibility of the Ministry.Singh now will be given responsibilty of Ministry of Science and Technology.


Both newly appointed ministers is expected to take oath at 6.30 on Thursday evening, according to the source.


With their participation in the cabinet, it will be easy for PM Dahal to pass the bill of amendment in the constitution from the Legislature-Parliament, says sources.  However, RPP, which holds 37 seats in the Parliament, is not in favor for the constitution amendment.
