LAHAN, June 26: The mastermind behind the abduction of transport entrepreneur, Gurudayal Mahato of Lahan Municipality was busted on Saturday after a search operation spanning two years.
The police arrested Raj Kumar Thakur aka Raja, 38, of Lahan Municipality –7 for masterminding the abduction of the businessman.

A police team from Area Police Office, Lahan responded to a special tip off and arrested Raja from a guest house at Sundhara in Kathmandu, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar KC of Area Police Office, Lahan said.
A group of four including Raja had abducted Mahato on November 15, 2014 from Khachuiya bridge at Pensara VDC – 7 of Saptari at 8: 30 pm. They had also robbed Mahato of Rs 37,000 in cash and a cell phone.
The group demanded a ransom of Rs 5 million for Mahato's release and had made contact with his family members through different phone numbers. They had even threatened to kill Mahato if their demand was not met.
The police rescued Mahato unharmed 31 days after the abduction and arrested three members of the racket. The three are already serving sentence at the Saptari prison after being charged under the abduction and physical detention case. RSS
