Police exchange fire with Biplab-led group in Sankhuwasabha

MORANG, Dec 28: The police and an unidentified group believed to be belonging to the underground armed outfit led by Netra Bikram Chanda ‘Biplab’ exchanged fire in Chainpur of Sankuwasaba district on Sunday afternoon.

MORANG, Dec 28: The police and an unidentified group believed to be belonging to the underground armed outfit led by Netra Bikram Chanda ‘Biplab’ exchanged fire in Chainpur of Sankuwasaba district on Sunday afternoon.


According to the police, the armed group fired bullets targeting a team of police at around 4 pm on Sunday when the police team was on a patrol in the area. The place where the incident took place is the home village of Yubraj, Sankuwasaba district In-Charge of Biplab led-Nepal Communist Party.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kubindra Kumar Karki said the armed group targeted a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and fired three to four rounds of bullets targeting them. “Police personnel then had to respond to their firings,” he added. No human casualties are reported in the incident.


The armed group had then escaped from the site after its encounter with police, according to police officials.
