BIRGUNJ, Dec 23: Police fired four rounds of shots to take an inebriated truck-driver under control in Birgunj on Thursday evening.

After the Indian government banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar, the first thing the heavy and other light vehicle drivers do upon entry into Nepal from India is to consume alcohol.

At around 10 pm yesterday, a cargo-truck driver drank alcohol heavily and whisked the truck, prompting Nepal Police to chase after him around the Birgunj city.

Police had to fire four rounds of shots before they could take the driver under control.

The police team deployed at Pratima Crossroad was unsuccessful to intercept the moving truck.

Later the police tracked down the location of the truck.

The place was very crowded. Eventually, DSP Govinda Kumar Shah chased down the truck.

Shah was forced to fire a shot in the tire of the truck like in a movie.

Finally, at 10 pm, police were able to detain the inebriated driver and the truck, with the registration number JH 2 Z 8651, after chasing for around of 7 kilometers.

The arrested truck driver has been identifed as Karu Yadav, 21, of Dhamaul Badiguleni and assistant driver Dhananjaya Kumar Mathuri, 19, of Sono Moda, Bihar.

The scene looked pretty fascinating.
