BHADRAPUR, Sept 10: Different works including repair and maintenance, painting and cleanliness have been expedited to reopen the Mahendra Park constructed at Chandragadhi four decades ago.
The park was closed after the statue of Mahendra installed inside the park was damaged during the People's Movement 2062/63 BS.
The park spread on around 16 kattha land was constructed at the initiative of the then chief of Mechi Zone, Chhiring Lama. Now, Bhadrapur Municipality has started repair and maintenance task of the park after allocating Rs 4.7 million, said Executive officer at the Municipality, Santosh Ghimire.
Youths, social workers, industrialists, cadres of political parties as well as Municipality employees have been contributing voluntary labor to bring the park into use once again. The Rotary Club, Bhadrapur, has started contributing voluntary labour from today after signing agreement with Bhadrapur Municipality.
Ghimire said that the park would be brought into operation before Ghatasthapana. The park is fully environment-friendly as there are different types of flowers, plants and swing, among others, said overseer at the Municipality, Sujit Karna. The Municipality has assigned two persons to look after the park and its management. RSS
