President-elect Paudel to be administered oath of office and secrecy on Monday

KATHMANDU, March 12: President-elect Ram Chandra Paudel will be administered the oath of office and secrecy tomorrow (Monday).

KATHMANDU, March 12: President-elect Ram Chandra Paudel will be administered the oath of office and secrecy tomorrow (Monday).


The President's Office Sheetal Niwas will hold a special event for the oath taking-ceremony on Monday at 1 PM.

The Constitution of Nepal stipulates that the President must take the oath of office and secrecy from the Chief Justice. According to which, president-elect Paudel will be administered the oath of office and secrecy by Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki as there is no Chief Justice at the moment.


Article 71 of the Constitution states that “the President and Vice President should assume their duties, the President shall take the oath of office and secrecy before the Chief Justice and the Vice President before the President in accordance with the federal law."


Paudel was elected president on March 9, defeating Subash Chandra Nembang of the CPN-UML. His tenure will be five years. President Bidya Devi Bhandari's tenure is ending today.
