KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The summit clash of the 13th Nationwide Krishna Mohan Open Badminton Tournament is set to be all-Army affair as Nepal's number one shuttler Ratna Jit Tamang and Nabin Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club reached to the final on Wednesday.
In the semifinal clashes played at Armed Police Force (APF)'s court Halchowk, national champion Ratna Jit, who also made to the men's doubles final, registered 21-10, 21-14 win over Prince Dahal of host APF while Nabin defeated Gautam Kathayat of Nepal Police Club 21-13, 21-14.
Ratnajeet, Bikash to vie for title
In the women's singles category, Tribhuvan Army Club's Nangsal Devi Tamang and Sichchya Shrestha of APF are set to battle for the title. In the first semifinal clash, Nepal's number one Nangsal overcame the challenge of her colleague Anu Maya Rai 21-13, 21-10 while in the second semifinal Sichchya bet Megha Chand of Army 21-6, 21-18.
Likewise, Army duo Ratna Jit and Nabin Shrestha registered victory over the pair of same team Suraj Maharjan and Ram Rai 21-10, 21-14 to book their places in the final of the men's doubles. The pair of APF comprising Bijit Thapa Magar and Bishal Pradhan defeated the pair of Suman Limbu and Sudip Sedhain of same team 22-20, 17-21, 21-8 to fix final with Army shuttlers.
Tamang sibling wins mixed doubles
The pair comprising of Ratna Jit and Nangsal of Army clinched the title in the mixed doubles category defeating the APF pair of Indra Bahadur Mahata and Puja Shrestha 21-16, 21-13.
In the master's men's doubles final above 35 year age category, the pair of Ganesh Chand and Krishna Shiwakoti of Police overcame the pair of Narayan Datta Poudel and Raju Gautam of host team 21-18, 21-18. Similarly, Annapurna Badmintion Club's pair of Shyam Parajuli and Nabin Babu Shrestha became champion in the veterans' doubles above 45 years category as they defeated the pair of Army duo Suvash Shrestha and Bhumi Bahaduur Gurung 21-16, 21-15 in the summit clash.
