KATHMANDU, April 25: Coaches from Spanish club Real Madrid will be coming to Nepal to conduct junior football training camp in Kathmandu.
Subharambha Education and Sports Tour Private Limited is hosting the camp for U-18 players in coordination with Real Madrid Foundation from June 5 to 9, the host informed on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is set to become the second club to conduct such training camp following a similar camp held in Kathmandu by AC Milan coaches earlier this month. Alantic Sports Management Private Limited (ASM) had invited coaching team affiliated to the Italian club to conduct the weeklong camp.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital on Tuesday, Subharambha's Managing Director Bijay Kumar Khatri informed that the four-day event will be held at Modern Indian School's football ground in the capital.
Santosh Neupane, technical director of the training camp, informed that they are expecting 70-80 players in the event. The participants will be trained by two UEFA A license holder coaches from Real Madrid including Daniel Andabururotella and Rafael Palacious. Four other assistant coaches will assist the coaches during the training camp.
He also informed that the training camp is open to all players and interested youths will have to pay Rs 35,000 as registration fee to take part in the training camp. However, the registration fee will cover all cost including training, refreshment, transportation and sports kits for each trainee.
The organizers informed that the coaching team will select one best trainee who will get an opportunity to travel to Real Madrid's Academy in Singapore where he will participate in a five-day football training camp free of cost.
On the same occasion, Subharambha's advisor Paras Khadka, who is also the captain of Nepali national cricket team, said that such event from big European team like Real Madrid was an achievement for overall Nepali sports. “Everyone knows how big Real Madrid is. So such club coming to Nepal and conducting training camp for our junior players is really great thing for our overall sports,” said Khadka.
“Such event sets an example which will inspire others also to host such sporting event which will eventually provide big platform for the players,” added Khadka.
Training coordinator Thaman Bhusal informed that the training camp will be conducted as per the schedule of Real Madrid's coaching team. “The training will be held as per the schedule and plan of coaching team coming from Spain,” said Bhusal.
The total budget of the event is Rs 6.5 million, according to the organizers.
