Rebel candidates, supporters and seconders will be expelled if their candidacies are not withdrawn: NC

KATHMANDU, April 29: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has urged its ‘rebel’ cadres and leaders to withdraw their candidatures within the stipulated time (5 PM today) if they have registered a rebel candidacy against the party's official candidate for the upcoming local level election slated for May 13.

KATHMANDU, April 29: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has urged its ‘rebel’ cadres and leaders to withdraw their candidatures within the stipulated time (5 PM today) if they have registered a rebel candidacy against the party's official candidate for the upcoming local level election slated for May 13.


Issuing a statement today, NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel requested such rebel candidates to withdraw their candidacies before the deadline fixed by the Election Commission, and play an active role in making the party's official candidate victorious.

If the independent candidates fail to withdraw their nominations, the party membership of such rebel candidates, their proposers and seconders will be terminated in accordance with Article 4 (13) (c) of the NC’s Statute, 2017 (with amendments).
