PALPA, July 31: Registration of 15 cooperatives in Palpa, Gulmi and Syangja was scrapped in Fiscal Year 2016/17.
While Division Cooperatives Office (DCO), Palpa, scrapped registration of two cooperatives based in Palpa and four in Gulmi, registration of nine cooperatives were canceled by DCO, Syangja.
The offices say that registration of these cooperatives was scrapped after they failed to follow needful legal procedures despite their multiple directions. According to officials, cooperatives not functioning regularly, not preparing audit reports regularly, and not abiding by the Cooperatives Act have made the regulatory body's music.
Licenses of 13 passive cooperatives scrapped
Division Cooperatives Office (DCO), Palpa, scrapped registration of four ginger producer cooperatives, one multipurpose cooperative, and one dairy producer cooperative.
Nawadurga Dairy Producer Cooperative and Janasewa Ginger Producer Cooperative of Palpa, and Sisne Ginger Producer Cooperative, Nawakopila Ginger Producer Cooperative, Pallikot Ginger Producer Cooperative and Janakalyan Multipurpose Cooperative of Gulmi have faced the music of DCO Palpa.
Likewise, DCO Syangja canceled registration of three agriculture cooperatives, two saving and credit cooperatives, two dairy producers' cooperatives, and one each fruits and vegetables production cooperative and fishery and agriculture cooperative. According to the division office, Sokham Sudhar Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited, Udayman Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited, Unnatishil Agriculture Cooperative, Shreejanshil Agriculture Cooperative, Shubhayatra Cooperative, Banstari Fishery and Agriculture Cooperative, Adarsha Namuna Vegetable and Fruits Producers Cooperative, Gaumukh Dairy Producers Cooperative, Samuhik Gaushala Cooperative and Bastari Fishery and Agriculture Cooperative have lost their operating license.
Krishna Bahadur Bohora, chief of DCO Palpa, said the office initiated process to scrap working license of cooperatives who failed to follow needful legal procedure despite being warned multiple times by telephone, letter as well as public notice.
DCO Palpa had issued a public notice on June 29, asking 19 cooperatives to contact the office within July 14 or lose operating license. According to DCO, 13 cooperatives contacted the office and completed the legal procedure.
Similarly, Bishnu Prasad Dhakal, an inspector with DCO Syangja, said registration of cooperatives, which did not function as per their objective, has been scrapped.
There are around 380 cooperatives in Syangja district, according to Dhakal.
