KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Former Chairperson of Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi has been honored with the 'Asia's Dignitary Man of the Year' title by the US-based organization, We Care for Humanity (WCH).
He was awarded "Asia’s Dignitary Man of the Year" at the We Care for Humanity's 3rd Global Officials of Dignity Awards, which was held at UN Millennium Hotel from August 17 to 19, 2016.
Regmi was honored for his contribution in leading the government to hold the second elections to the Constituent Assembly in 2014 amidst a very challenging situation, and also serving the people and society through judicial service.
The former Chief Justice of Nepal was honored along with former heads of government and states, renowned social campaigners at the Awards ceremony held to mark the International Summit on Humanity.
Receiving the award, Mr Regmi pointed out the need to continuously work with the feeling of service and voluntarism in order to guide the world towards the path to success. "Only dedication to humanitarian service and socially beneficial work can help build a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous society", he said, according to his press coordinator Rajendra Prasad Pandeya.
