RPP to host reception on Prithvi Jayanti

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is to host a reception on January 11 or Paush 27 of the Nepali calendar on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is to host a reception on January 11 or Paush 27 of the Nepali calendar on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal.


The reception will be held at Bhrikutimandap, the party said. A poetry symposium and a colloquium will also be held on the day of Prithvi Jayanati, besides the reception.

The Prime Minister, ministers, political leaders, chiefs of constitutional bodies, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions, incumbent and retired senior government officials have been invited to the reception, according Rajaram Shrestha, spokesperson for the party. Some 15,000 guests have been invited to the ceremony, he said.


RPP plans to mobilise some 2,000 party cadres to make the event successful. On the occasion, three people researching on the theme of Prithvi Narayan Shah will be honoured.


The RPP Nepal was hosting a reception on the occasion of the Prithivi Jayanti and National Unification Day since the past one decade and this is the first reception after the RPP and RPP Nepal merged and became RPP.


The country used to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the first king of Unified Nepal, on Push 27 every year until it became a republic in 2007. RSS
