KATHMANDU, Feb 19:  Parties within the ruling coalition have agreed to announce dates for local level election.

Meeting between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders in the coalition at PM's official residence Baluwatar on Sunday decided to declare election dates and consult the Election Commission on this regard.

"The PM will consult office bearers at the Election Commission by Sunday evening and the government will declare dates for local level election as the ruling coalition agreed for it," said PM's Political Advisor Chakrapani Khanal.

The ruling coalition decided to move ahead though the agitating Madhes-based parties urged PM to announce election dates only after endorsing Constitution Amendment Bill, tabled in the Parliament.

Khanal said that the ruling coalition meeting on Sunday discussed about the demands of Madhes-based parties and developed an understanding to address their demand by forming a taskforce.

According to Minister for Local Development Hitaraj Pandey, the election dates would be announced after consulting Election Commission.

"The Cabinet is yet to take a decision over the report of the commission formed to recommend local level restructuring. A cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday will discuss on the report," said Minister Pandey.
