Sanskrit scholar, media person Ghimire no more

KATHMANDU, May 16: Sanskrit language expert and media person Janardan Ghimire who was injured in a bus accident that occurred at Khadichaur of Sindhupalchwok last Thursday succumbed to injuries this evening. He was 48.

KATHMANDU, May 16: Sanskrit language expert and media person Janardan Ghimire who was injured in a bus accident that occurred at Khadichaur of Sindhupalchwok last Thursday succumbed to injuries this evening. He was 48. 


He suffered injuries to his ribs and breathed his last this morning in course of treatment at Maharajgunj-based Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre, according to Rastriya Dharmasabha Nepal's Secretary Arun Kumar Pandey.

The accident occurred as the Ghimire family were on the way to hometown Dolakha from the capital to take part in the May 14 local-level election. His father Muktinath Ghimire and Ratna Kumari died on the spot while spouse and younger sister were injured along with him. 


Following the accident, Ghimire were brought to the capital for treatment. He, a permanent resident from Lamidanda of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality, was living at Kaushaltar, Bhaktapur. 


Ghimire, Tribhuvan University's assistant professor was a programme presenter on the theme of religion with the 'Radio Kantipur FM'. He was in the mission of turning his hometown Lamidanda and Babare in Dolakha into Sanskrit villages. 


The writer of a book 'Shabda Sandoha', an etymology of Sanskrit, was pursuing a Ph.D. degree on the theme of "Dhatupath of Panini Byakaran'. He is respected as an expert of the Sanskrit language. He is survived by his two sons and a daughter. His last rites are to be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today itself.
