The Supreme Court gave the order while issuing show-cause notices to the authorities in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Bishnu Luitel, who demanded a court order to ensure the right of the poor to food during the lockdown.
The apex court also summoned the authorities to send their representatives to the court on April 5 along with their written replies whether or not to issue an interim order for providing special packages to the poor as demanded in the writ petition. Advocate Luitel filed the writ on Monday.
