KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the provision made in the annual budget to dole out Rs 200,000 each to the disqualified Maoist combatants.

A single bench of Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli ordered the government not to implement the point number 19 of the budget unveiled by the erstwhile government till the next hearing.

Responding to the writ filed by the conflict victims and Nepali Congress (NC) leaders, the apex court ordered the defendants not to implement the provision for one week.

The court has summoned both the plaintiffs and the defendants for August 31.
