KATHMANDU, July 7: The government's U-turn on the decision to conduct pesticide testing for vegetables and fruits imported from India was an act of 'surrender' to the Indian imperialism, according to Nepal Communist Party-Masal.
Following pressure from the Indian authorities, the government on Friday halted the decision on carrying out lab test of vegetables and fruits coming from the southern neighbor. Reacting to the government move, CPN-Mashal Chairman Mohan Bikram Singh said that the government was playing with the health of the general public in order to appease India.

“This not only shows the government's compromising policy toward the Indian imperialism, but also shows its unabashed surrendering mentality,'' Singh said in a statement issued on Saturday. He said that the decision had shown Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's government's negligence on public health.
Similarly, the ruling party's own student wing has also criticized the government for the decision. In a statement issued on Saturday, Ranjit Tamang, Chairman of All Nepal Free Students Union (ANFSU), said that the decision has raised suspicions of direct or indirect pressure.
