KATHMANDU, March 31: Various small parties have urged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to withdraw the provision about a common election symbol for all the small parties during the local polls.

They also submitted a memorandum to Dahal demanding that they should be allowed to participate in the election with their own election symbols.

The Election Commission had earlier decided to allow the small parties not represented in parliament to participate in the elections with a common election symbol. They also requested him to amend the Local Level Election Act related to the common election symbol.

In response to their demands, PM Dahal said that he will discuss with the major parties about the provision for the political consensus.
