KATHMANDU, Oct 19: A year after launching the 'smart driving license' in the Bagmati zone, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is all set to launch the same across the country.
“If things go as per the department's plan, smart licenses will be issued from the remaining 13 zonal offices from mid-December,” said the department's director general, Chandra Man Shrestha.
'Smart' system to issue driving license across country
He said that the department has been installing the smart license printing machines in the zonal offices.
The DoTM has in a year issued over 100,000 smart licenses in the Bagmati zone.
The system was introduced in the Bagmati Zone last year with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The ADB provided monetary aid of Rs 230 million to the department for introducing the new license system.
