South Sudan's Prez ready to face ICC

KATHMANDU, Oct 25: South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir said he is ready to face the International Criminal Court (ICC) if called upon to answer charges of crimes against humanity committed during the civil war, the country's Radio Tamazuj.

KATHMANDU, Oct 25: South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir said he is ready to face the International Criminal Court (ICC) if called upon to answer charges of crimes against humanity committed during the civil war, the country's Radio Tamazuj.


According to a report published by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, at least 382,900 people have died as a result of the country's five-year civil war.

“I am not afraid because I did nothing. If there is such a charge, I am ready to go there and I will come back because I did nothing,” the radio quoted President Kiir. 


Kiir said he is not an obstacle to peace and that he believes the peace deal between his government and opposition groups would not collapse.


“I can guarantee that and I can assure the people that we will have peace in our country, and we are going to have it,” he said.
