KATHMANDU, May 7: Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar has decided to postpone the House meeting until May 18 through a notice. She also informed media fraternity about her decision amid press conference organized at Shankar Hall of Legislature-Parliament.

Talking to journalists at the press meet, she accused the judiciary of encroaching on the jurisdiction of the executive.

“Constitution has clearly defined the jurisdiction of the state organs. I hold that all of them should remain within constitutional limit”, said Speaker Gharti.

She said she chose to adjourn the house meeting until May 18 with a view to facilitating the solution to the problem through parleys.

"To avoid further confrontation between the State organs now, Speaker has decided to postpone the House meeting until May 18," the source close to Speaker told Republica.

The Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) lawmakers last week registered impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki. On the other hand, the Supreme Court stayed the order and ordered to let the Karki to work ahead in the capacity of the chief justice.

Following it, the leaders of the ruling parties are arguing that the apex court move encroached into the prerogative rights of the Parliament.

"With a view that the tussle between Executive, Legislature and Judiciary could increase further, Speaker chose the alternative of postponing House meeting for few days," said the source.

Earlier, the House meeting was scheduled for 1pm today.
