KATHMANDU, July 4: The leaders of the top three parties have reached an agreement to quickly elect the chairpersons of the parliamentary committees. Speaker Devraj Ghimire said that in the discussion between the leaders of the top three political parties, including the speaker on Tuesday, there was an agreement to select the leadership of the parliamentary committee as soon as possible.
He said that the meeting also discussed making the parliamentary activities effective and dynamic as well as agreeing to quickly finalize the chairmanship of the parliamentary committees. He said that the leaders of the three parties are serious about selecting the chairpersons of the parliamentary committees.

He said, “There was a discussion on how to make the parliamentary activities more effective and dynamic. For a long time, parliamentary committees have been led by senior members. This situation should be ended immediately. I asked for advice and suggestions on that - whether you agree to hold an election or not. I said that if it is not done immediately, I will have to take my own steps. That's what it's for. Basically, discussions were held to make parliamentary activities effective. They are serious, it is said that they will solve it immediately.”
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dhanraj Gurung said that there was an agreement to select the chairpersons of the committees as soon as possible. He also said that there was an agreement to resolve the distortions, inconsistencies, and deficiencies seen in politics and to strengthen the federal democratic republic.
He said, “There was a meeting of the top leaders, mainly the leadership of the parliamentary committees, which has been vacant, and it has been agreed to select the chairman of the committee as soon as possible. It was agreed to resolve the distortions, inconsistencies, and deficiencies seen in politics and strengthen the federal democratic republic. Minister Gurung said that the leadership of Koshi Province was also discussed in the meeting.”
