POKHARA, Jan 27: Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Kumar Khadka has said special emphasis should be given to women empowerment for the country's overall development.

Speaking at a program organized in his welcome by the Himalaya Club at local Batule Chaur today, Minister Khadka asserted that the State has kept works related to women empowerment as a special priority.

He stated that the State would not tolerate any type of violence against women and the government would take up the responsibility of protecting the women, street children and the senior citizens who are the victims of violence.

"The government wishes that the local level election takes place at the earliest and it is also committed for that," he said adding that now no one should doubt on the local election taking place since a 'fast track' approach has been adopted for having the election-related bills passed by the parliament.

President of the National Welfare Federation Pandit Kamal Nayan Gautam said the society always honors people who work for the wellbeing of the society, nation and the people with pious intention.

Club president Jeevanarayan Shrestha presided over the program. More than 47 organizations honored Minister Khadka on the occasion, RSS
