Swaraj committed to punishing guilty in Gautam’s killing

KATHMANDU, March 17: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi on Thursday urged Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj to investigate the killing of Gobinda Gautam by personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)  in Kanchanpur on the Nepal-India border last week.

KATHMANDU, March 17: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi on Thursday urged Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj to investigate the killing of Gobinda Gautam by personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)  in Kanchanpur on the Nepal-India border last week.


Nidhi, who is on a four-day visit to Delhi, informed the Indian minister that the post-mortem and forensic report had already established that Gautam was killed by bullets fired by the SSB, and demanded that the Indian government punish the guilty.

“In reply, External  Affairs Minister Swaraj sought the Nepal government’s support in the investigations and expressed her commitment to punishing the guilty,” reads a press note provided by Nidhi’s press coordinator, Ramjee Dahal, on Thursday. “Home Minister Nidhi and  External Affairs Minister Swaraj emphasized that such incidents mustn’t be repeated in future.


” During the talks, Nidhi proposed that two joint technical teams be added to expedite the task of settling disputes over the Nepal-India border. At present, three joint technical teams are working for that purpose.
