Swimming team leaving for Tokyo today

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: A six-member Nepali team including three female swimmers will leave for Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday to compete in the 10th Asian Swimming Championship to be held there from November 17 to 22.

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: A six-member Nepali team including three female swimmers will leave for Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday to compete in the 10th Asian Swimming Championship to be held there from November 17 to 22.


 In the women's section, Tisa Shakya will compete in 50 m butterfly, 50 m freestyle and 100 m freestyle. Aakshara Singh will feature in 50 m and 100 m breaststrokes while Ayushma Tuladhar will vie in breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle events of 50 m.

All three swimmers are the students of Lincoln School, Kathmandu. Nepal Swimming Association Vice President Umesh Maharjan is the team leader, member Sagar Shakya is the manager and Shanti Sthapit is the official. National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista and NSA President Ashok Bajracharya bade farewell to the team on Monday.
