TAC, APF victorious on second day

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Departmental teams Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Armed Police Force (APF) won two matches each on the second day of the ongoing 13th Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Volleyball Double League Tournament on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Departmental teams Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Armed Police Force (APF) won two matches each on the second day of the ongoing 13th Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Volleyball Double League Tournament on Friday. 


In the matches played at the Dhorpatan Sports Club’s ground, APF defeated New Diamond Sports Club (NDSC) 25-1, 25-2, 25-6 and other departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) 25-12, 25-17, 25-13.


In the other matches, TAC beat Paramount Academy and Springdale Boarding School to win two back-to-back matches. TAC eased past Paramount 25-23, 25-12, 25-8, while it thumped Springdale 25-9, 25-15, 25-5.

APF sits on the first place with nine points from three games, while trailing behind is TAC on second on result difference. 


In the other matches, Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) comfortably beat Three Star Academy 25-8, 25-0, 25-1. This is the second consecutive win for NDA.  Earlier on Thursday, it beat NDSC 25-0, 25-1, 25-5. 


Likewise, Springdale overcame Three Star in a 3-1 set. Springdale won the first set 25-14 and second set 25-10 and lost the third set 26-28. But, it recovered again to win the fourth set 25-14. 


A total of six matches will be played on Saturday. NDSC will take on Springdale in the first match, Paramount will face Meghauli Sports Foundation in the second, NDSC will battle against Three Star in the third, NPC and NDA will vie against Meghauli and TAC respectively in the fourth and fifth match, while APF will face Three Star in the last match of the day. 


The tournament will conclude on February 2.
