Time has come for full implementation of constitution: PM Deuba

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 20: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said time has come to fully implement the constitution by ending the political transition long existing in the country.

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 20: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said time has come to fully implement the constitution by ending the political transition long existing in the country. 


While addressing a wreath laying ceremony at the statue of national luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa, the initiator and promoter of Nepal Sambat, at the Madhayapur Thimi-based Shankhadhar Chowk today, the Prime Minister said this. 


"We are in the phase of ending the transition by enforcing the constitution fully and holding of the nearing elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies is the way of implementing the constitution. We hope that there will be support and cooperation from every quarter to make the twin elections successful."

The programme was organised by National Luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa Academy. 

“Highlighting on the contribution of Shankhadhar Sakhwa to inspiring the people to move above the personal interests and do something good for the society, the Prime Minister called the 'Nepal Sambat', the original era of the Nepali people. 


On the occasion, he launched the Shankhadhar Bulletin and honoured Narendra Bhakta Hada and Devendra Kumar Malla. 


Defence Minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan said the cooperation of all sides was needed for including Sakhwa in the school curriculum and in conducting the upcoming elections in a peaceful manner. 

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Democratic) president Pashupati Shumsher Rana, CPN (UML) leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha, co-chairman of the Federal Socialist Forum, Rajendra Shrestha, Kathmandu Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha, former chairman of the Academy, Madan Krishna Shrestha, vice-chairman Chandan Krishna Shrestha, among others, stressed on the need of adopting the Nepal Sambat calendar as the national calendar. 


Academy chairman Shyam Krishna Manandhar said the statue of national luminary Shanjhadhar Sakhwa would be installed in all the districts of the country. 


Various cultural tableau and dances were also performed on the occasion.(RSS)
