DHULIKHEL, April 4: Transport shutdown held at the call of various transport service committees in Kavrepalanchowk providing services to the east of Koteshwar affected the normal life in the district.
A total of 13 transport committees including the Kavre Bus Service Committee and Kavre Minibus Service Committee decided to halt transport services to the east of Koteshwor today in protest against the permission given to the Mayur Yatayat Pvt Limited to operate its services on the Kathmandu-Banepa route.
Kavre Mini Bus Committee chair Rajesh Sundar Saiju said the protest is against the route permit given to the Mayur Yatayat by the Department of Transport Management ( DoTM) for the operation of services only in easily accessible destinations.

He said they are ready to welcome competition in the business, but the services of Mayor Yatayat must reach rural areas as well.
Federation of National Transport Entrepreneurs' president Yogendra Nath Karmacharya said they have just moral solidarity to the protest of Kavre-based transport entrepreneurs.
Kavrepalanchowk's Chief District Officer, Shiba Prasad Simkhada said they received a memorandum regarding the issue few days ago, but the syndicate system is against the State and vandalism and shutdown is not entertained in any sector.
The DoTM has warned of annulling the permission license if transport committees continue to with the shutdown.
The Mayor Private Ltd has been providing services on the Kathmandu-Banepa route since March 15. --
