Left unification on April 22: Dahal

Yes, I won by a huge margin. If we look at the overall result of the province, it is probably the biggest margin. I have taken this as natural. I do feel good but at the same time, I feel way more responsible. I am serious about the works we need to do ahead. There are challenges ahead; I need to overcome those to meet their expectations.

The left alliance surprised everyone, isn't it?

People have given their mandate to the left alliance. But I have taken this as not at all surprising. We have time and again talked about providing a strong and stable government. So, people chose us this time. They want a stable government which can deliver. We have to stick to our goals, and our promises. Everyone has felt the need for development and prosperity. And this alone is the solution to multiple problems we have. Now, the country has taken the right course. And the change is inevitable now. The country cannot remain in status quo for long.

There is a rumor of you becoming the new chief minister of Province 1. What's your reaction?

Yes, I am a very strong contender for chief minister. Look at my history. This is not the first time I have won the election from here. I have served in several important positions. As a lawmaker I have played crucial role. People liked my work as communications minister. And I have no vested interests. I am in politics purely for the people and the country. Due to my clean image, I think I deserve to be chief minister.

What are your plans for development if you are appointed chief minister?

First of all, we need to study the geography, population, diversity, and resources of this province. And only then can we come up with a master plan for development. Road network, hydropower and tourism are the three pillars of development here. Similarly, I want to bring investment here.

Is there a possibility of merger between the UML and the Maoist Center?

Absolutely, and nobody can stop our unification now. This is the need of the time.
