KATHMANDU, June 7: CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today said his party would take up the policy of support and protest based on the government's works and policies.

The main responsibility of newly elected Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is to realise his commitments to hold all three levels of elections in a free and fair manner, the UML leader said at an interaction organised by Press Chautari Nepal in the Capital on the subject of current politics.

He also clarified that the UML would not participate in the government.

Touching on the Bharatpur incident, he said the direction of the Election Commission to hold re-polls in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19 was not good move, he said he believed the Supreme Court's verdict to stay the direction would give a way out.

"If the new government would try to amend the constitution and review the numbers of local levels in the name of wider acceptance by sidelining the UML, it would not be acceptable to the party," he said.

The event was also attended by UML secretary and Chief of the Publicity Department Yogesh Bhattarai, deputy chief Surya Thapa and Chairman of the Press Chautari Ganesh Basnet. RSS
