University teachers resign after new ruling

CHITWAN, Aug 22: Many teachers of community as well as private colleges have begun resigning after the local administration began a monitoring on teachers teaching in two or more colleges in a single shift.

CHITWAN, Aug 22: Many teachers of community as well as private colleges have begun resigning after the local administration began a monitoring on teachers teaching in two or more colleges in a single shift. 


The local administration has initiated the following the rising trend of teachers marking their attendance in government and community colleges, and going to teach in private colleges. 


Soon after the initiative began, seven senior teachers at Saptagandaki multiple campus in Bharatpur have tendered their resignation. These teachers were part of the teaching faculty at Birendra multiple campus, a government college as well, according to Assistant Campus Chief Dharma Raj Ghimire.

Five senior teachers at Maiyadevi Kanya Campus in Bharapur and two in Bal Kumari Campus, Narayangadh are also reported to have tendered their resignation. Some teachers in government colleges have stopped marking their attendance, according to Principal of the School of Health Sciences, Bharatpur, Achyut Dahal.


Chairman of the Nepal Public Campus Association, Chitwan, Krishna Subedi, said that monitoring carried out by the administration in this regard was positive.


The private higher secondary schools have been directly affected due to this, as most of the lecturers of Birendra Multiple Campus have been running higher secondary schools.


Saying that lecturers of government and community campuses have been taking responsibility of some private higher secondary schools, Chairman of the Higher Secondary Schools Association Nepal, Chitwan chapter Bhupendra Dhital said the schools would be directly affected by this.


He also said that it was difficult to find lecturers of science subjects.


The lecturers have started resigning after the local administration sought teachers' routine from all campuses, saying action would be taken against those lecturers teaching two or more colleges at a single shift. RSS
