Vegetable prices increase by almost 33% in a day

KATHMANDU, July 14: The average wholesale prices of vegetables including tomato small, tomato small (tunnel), local cabbage, local cauliflower, bitter gourd, and brinjal increased by almost 33 percent in a single day on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, July 14: The average wholesale prices of vegetables including tomato small, tomato small (tunnel), local cabbage, local cauliflower, bitter gourd, and brinjal increased by almost 33 percent in a single day on Saturday.


According to the daily wholesale price bulletin issued by Kalimati Fruits and Vegetable Market Development Board, the average price of small tomato was increased to Rs 64 per kg from Rs 48 and the price of small tomato (tunnel) was increased to Rs 74 per kg from Rs 60 on Saturday compared to Friday.

Similarly, price of cabbage (local) was increased to Rs 38 per kg from Rs 28 and cauliflower (local) was increased to Rs 75 per kg from Rs 62. Likewise, price of bitter gourd was Rs 48 per kg on Friday, which increased to Rs 58 the next day. The price of brinjal (long) was also increased to Rs 58 per kg from Rs 48.


Similarly, the prices of spinach leaf and mustard leaf were increased by almost 45 percent compared to the previous day. The price of spinach leaf was Rs 55 per kg on Friday that went up to Rs 95 on Saturday. Likewise, the price of mustard leaf increased to Rs 85 per kg from Rs 55.
