RATNANAGAR (Chitwan), July 1: The Narayangadh-Muglin road stretch will remain shut for the entire day following repeat landslides.
The road section was obstructed again a few hours after it resumed following the removal a large boulder which cascaded down along with a landslide at Paanchkilo area of Chandi Bhanjyang VDC – 9 of Chitwan at 5:50 am.
Traffic resumes at Narayangadh-Muglin road stretch
The busy road stretch connecting Kathmandu with the rest of the country was struck with a string of fresh landslides hours after transportation resumed, police said.
The boulder that blocked the road after heavy torrential downpour this morning was removed after a few hours' effort at 9 am just when multiple landslides struck at four places – Char Kilo, Paanch Kilo, Jalbire and Bhalu Dhunga, according to Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project Engineer, Shiva Khanal. Transportation along the road has come to a grinding halt.
The clearance effort has been hampered with unremitting rainfall in the area. "It is raining, and there is landslide on top of it, so it will not be possible to remove the debris," said Khanal, adding that the road will be cleared once the rain stops.
Khanal shared that it is unlikely transportation will resume until late night even if rain stops now. RSS
