ITAHARI, Oct 23: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has urged all parties to make a single stand for holding three-tier elections successfully in the country.

While inaugurating the first Tamu SAARC Assembly in Dharan on Sunday, Vice President Pun opined that once the disgruntled political parties were also brought on board, it would help ensure their ownership on the constitution.

According to him, consensus among all political parties was imperative for effective implementation of the constitution. "Common stand among political parties could drive country towards economic, social and political progress."

On different note, the Vice President said different languages, religions and cultures should be promoted and preserved in the country to maintain the diverse glory of the nation.

He said Tamu community has protected its glorious cultures and tradition and therefore it is recognized across the globe.

Tamu delegations from India, Burma, Bhutan, USA and some gulf countries including Nepal are attending the assembly. The assembly will continue for two days. RSS
