MYAGDI, Sept 5: The unwelcome appearance of fissures on the surface and sporadic landslips in Banshbot locality of Begkhola – 1 of Myagdi has become a worrisome factor for the locals.
The landslides are occurring on the lower village area and upper parts of Banshkot and Lisne prompting a need for relocation of 22 households, local resident, Purja Magar said. At least 10 families have already arranged for relocation to their relatives' places.
The monsoon-triggered incessant rainfall has opened up cracks at many places and damaged old traditional houses.
A suspension bridge built over the Lisne river this year has been damaged following a flooding and creating obstructions for students who use the bridge to head to school.
Nepal Red Cross Society Begkhola Sub Branch President, Om Prasad Garwuja, said houses belonging to Nagendra BK and Netra Bahadur Pun have been destroyed.
Garwuja said the local Shiva Primary School is also at risk of landslide. A landslide recently razed down the Krishna Lower Secondary School at Banduk. RSS
