Women athletes define Nepal’s sporting history

Nepali women's participation in sports, spanning nearly eight decades, has been remarkable despite crushing challenges. Constraining state investment in sports remains a major barrier, with over 80 percent of the sports sector's budget allocated to salaries, allowances, and administrative expenses. This leaves minimal resources for fostering grassroots sports or creating an encouraging environment for female athletes. Additionally, programs specifically aimed at increasing women's participation in sports have not been introduced.

Women have reached high positions like President, Chief Justice, and Chief Secretary, and have done well in these roles.
