Women cricketers from Central picked up

KATHMANDU, July 15: Central region announced an 18-member squad, with 14 regular and four reserved players, for the Women's National Cricket Tournament to be held in Kathmandu in August.

KATHMANDU, July 15: Central region announced an 18-member squad, with 14 regular and four reserved players, for the Women's National Cricket Tournament to be held in Kathmandu in August.



The tournament will be organized as a preparation for the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifiers for Asia.



Among the 14 regular members, seven players Kanchan Shrestha, Rabina Bhandari, Asmita Kharel, Asmina Karmacharya, Sharada Wagle, Aarati Bidari and Geeta Chudal are from Bagmati zone, while five players Sobha Ale (captain), Rosy Kodari, Bimla Magar, Manisha Ale and Swastika Tolenga are from Janakpur zone and Sita Shrestha and Rachana Aryal from Narayani zone. Similarly, Anu Karki (Janakpur), Sajani Shrestha (Bagmati), Sanumaya Tamanag (Narayani) and Mamta Chaulagain (Narayanai) are four reserved players.



Meanwhile, Janakpur won the regional selection tournament for the Central Region as Friday's match between Janakpar and Bagmati (runner-up) was washed out.



Both the teams had defeated Narayani in their opening matches.
