148 children with acute malnutrition in Baitadi

BAITADI, Nov 3: A total of 148 children have been diagnosed with an acute type of malnutrition in Baitadi, a district in the far-western region. 


In the first three months of the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) Program launched in the district, 3415 children were checked up for the status of nutrition, and of them 148 were found to be suffering acute form of malnutrition.

Children ranging from the age of six months to 59 months of different VDCs and municipalities in the district were included in the checkups, according to IMAM district coordinator Pradeep Parajuli. 


Of them, 394 were found living with the moderate rapid type of malnutrition. 


Of the kids diagnosed with the acute form of malnutrition, 79 have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The treatment is free. 


Besides, parents are being provided consultation for better diet and proper care for their children so as to improve their condition, Parajuli said. RSS
