PM Oli cancels program to attend CAVA Women’s Volleyball Tournament after chopper crash

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has canceled his plan to attend the final match of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women's Nations Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday.


Although Prime Minister Oli was scheduled to attend the final match between Nepal and India under the tournament, the Prime Minister's Secretariat said that Prime Minister Oli has changed his mind following the Air Dynasty chopper crash that claimed the lives of five people including a crew member.

The final match between Nepal and India will be held at the Covered Hall of the National Sports Council in Tripureshwor. The game began at 5 PM.


The domestic team, Nepal, advanced to the finals of the competition by defeating Iran in straight sets in the semifinals. Meanwhile, India reached the final by defeating Sri Lanka 3–0 in sets in their semifinal match.


In the league stage, Nepal achieved a thrilling 3–2 victory over India. This time, Nepal aims to win the title by defeating India once again on their home court.
