KMC awards Rs 100,000 each to National Women's Volleyball Team players

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) awarded Rs 100,000 each to the National Women's Volleyball Team players on Thursday. KMC Mayor Balendra Shah presented the cash prizes to the runner-up team in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nations League.

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) awarded Rs 100,000 each to the National Women's Volleyball Team players on Thursday. KMC Mayor Balendra Shah presented the cash prizes to the runner-up team in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nations League.


The players who received the award include captain Aruna Shahi, Niruta Thagunna, Shantikala Tamang, Saraswati Chaudhary, Sumitra Regmi, Usha Bhandari, Kavita Bhatt, Kamana Bista, Sangam Mahato, Safia Pun, Aarti Subedi, Poonam Chand, Pragati Nath, and Salina Shrestha.

In addition to the 14 players, team manager Nilam Singh Bajracharya, head coach Jagdish Prasad Bhatt, assistant coach Bharat Yadav, and physio Lokendra Kuwar were also awarded certificates of appreciation along with Rs 50,000 each.


At the prize distribution ceremony, Mayor Shah stated, "The runner-up team has drawn the attention of government institutions like ours to focus on improving sports infrastructure, creating a sports-friendly environment, and developing players' capacities. This area has been overlooked, and we will address it."


Nepal lost to India in the final match held at the National Sports Council's covered hall in Tripureshwar on Wednesday. Five teams had participated in the tournament, including Nepal.
