454 people committed suicide in three years

BARDIA, Sept 18: In Bardia, 454 people have committed suicide in the last three years. District Police Office Bardia Community Police Service Center has released the statistics of three years of suicide on the 'World Suicide Prevention Day' organized on Sunday.

BARDIA, Sept 18: In Bardia, as many as 454 people committed suicide in the last three years. District Police Office Bardia Community Police Service Center has released suicide statistics of the past three years, coinciding with the 'World Suicide Prevention Day' on Sunday.


The District Police Office has a record of 143 suicides in the year 2076/077 BS, 150 in the year 077/078 BS and 161 in the year 078/079 BS. During these three years, as many as 113 people in the age group of 16 to 25 years committed suicide. It is seen that 30 people in the age group below 16 years, 86 people in the age group of 26 to 35 years committed suicide in the said period. Similarly, records of the District Police Office confirm that 89 people in the age group of 36 to 46 years, 87 people in the age group of 46 to 60 years and 49 people in the age group above 60 years committed suicide in the period.

According to the records of the District Police Office, more men than women committed suicide. Out of 454 who committed suicide in three years, 253 were men and 201 were women. It has been said that the Suicide Prevention Day, which was to be celebrated on August 31, was postponed due to various reasons.
