Alternative routes repaired to reach disaster-hit areas in Sindhupalchowk

SINDHUPALCHOWK, August 10: The massive flood that occurred on June 16 damaged roads, and suspension and motorable bridges in the western belt of Sindhupalchowk. The collapse of bridges in different locations severed road connection to Helambu, Panchpokhari Thangpal, various villages of Melamchi Municipality and Indrawati Rural Municipality.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, August 10: The massive flood that occurred on June 16 damaged roads, and suspension and motorable bridges in the western belt of Sindhupalchowk. The collapse of bridges in different locations severed road connection to Helambu, Panchpokhari Thangpal, various villages of Melamchi Municipality and Indrawati Rural Municipality.


With the detachment, the local levels have initiated works to restore the alternative land routes. Now, the roadway to reach Gyalthum of Helambu from Kathmandu is ready. It links Sankhu of Kathmandu via Bhotechaur, Haibung and Patibhanjyang, said Nima Gyaljen Sherpa, a local level people's representative.

Similarly, efforts are underway to manage an alternative roadway for the buses to operate along the Narayantar, Bhotechaur, Dhuseni, Manebhanjyang, Chapbot, Talamarang and Dhungrebazar.


Transport entrepreneur Suresh Shrestha informed that a bus was leaving Kathmandu for Sindhupalchowk at 6:00, 9:00AM and 12:00 noon. The bus service could be increased in view of the condition of the road.
